Title: Last day of January
Message:
Well, today is the last day of January. This means that tomorrow I'll be archiving this page. Today I hope to change the navbar. I've been told that the green is very obnoxious. I'll probably be changing it to a darker and perhaps more soft color. I also hope to finish the archiving today. If not today, then tomorrow. Then, content. I have 35 sprite sheets and a MIDI song to post. And then Syrus has his stuff.

Not much else to say. Oh, wait! Tomorrow is Superbowl Sunday! YES!!! How could I forget! That'll be fun. I love watching the commercials, and it's the perfect excuse for chili-cheese dip and 20 cans of soda. I'm not a fan of the Steelers or the Cardinals, and we all know which team I wanted to see play (not that the Vikings are that good, but at least they had a chance this year).

EDIT: I FINISHED ARCHIVING! GAWD, I'M ACTUALLY DONE! Now for resources.

Title: First Video Update!
Message:
Well, it's official; the first of what I hope to be many video updates. Like today's, the coming video updates will be on the last Friday of the month as a special treat for our beloved readers.

I realize, though, that today's isn't much of a treat; it was last minute, and is rather short. I will definitely try harder on the coming video updates, mainly in that they will be scripted, and will have much more content.

Regardless, enjoy.

EDIT: I'm also about two thirds of the way through all of the archives. I left off at the beginning of July of 2007. I'm happy, because once I have all that junk over with I won't have anything to worry about except for resources. But I'm thinking if I can just get the templates done and get the project rolling in the right direction. At that point I can delegate the task of making buttons to Syrus. He's the one with the cool fonts, anyway. From then on I can just handle the technical stuff.

Title: Improvement.
Message:
Well, here's a jump up. The INFO section is viewable again. I've still got lots more updates to archive, but the INFO section can be open while I do that. Guaranteed, though, getting all the archives done is my top priority. It's a useless and time-taking job that must be done regardless; once I finish that, I'll never have to worry about it again. If I don't do it now, it'll never get done. Here's the order in which I will finish redoing the site:
1. Archive Updates
2. ROM HACKING Section
3. DEVELOPMENT and GUIDES sections
4. IMPORTANT section
5. FAN JUNK section
6. RESOURCES section

RESOURCES and FAN JUNK go last because they're the largest and thus hardest sections. FAN JUNK goes before RESOURCES because resources still has quite a bit of content yet to be posted. I recently got permission from a MIDI master at vgmusic.com to use one of his compositions, an all piano version of the classic Legend of Zelda overworld theme, not to mention there's the god-knows-how-many sprite sheets that Bad Ass Bill gave me permission to use. I'm at school right now, so I'm unable to access the old freewebs page, and therefore I can't continue archiving old updates; however, I can complete the redone ROM HACKING, DEVELOPMENT, and GUIDES sections.

Also, sorry I didn't finish the update last night, I kind of ran out of time.

ONE LAST THING! I've got Friday's update. Remember, it's a video update! So Syrus, you can chill.

EDIT: Alright, the ROM HACKING, GUIDES, and DEVELOPMENT sections are back up. I'm still at school so I still can't access the old freewebs page, so can't get to the old updates. I'm also on a mac, so I can't use MSpaint and thus can't easily make images. I'll work on it when I get home.

Title: Progress!
Message:
I apologize for not updating yesterday; here's my total recap of what I've gotten done for fixing up the site: I first added a new background for the navbar; it's part of a more technological look I'm trying to put in place. I also changed the background to a dusky orange rather than a deep blue. In the near future, I will be implementing a new background for the text area; I've been getting complaints about how the white text on the black background is kind of painful to read. I also got a new avatar from Syrus. Aside from that, I fixed the update headers so they don't overlap into the message. I've also decided that, to simplify things, I'll be making the update archives into relatively unformatted text, both to decrease bandwidth usage while viewing archives, and to eliminate issues with things put in place recently (such as avatars).

So once I put in place a new background for the text area, I'll probably start redoing the rest of the pages.

EDIT: Alright, I put in the new text background AND I added a proper footer; this means that tomorrow I can start redoing the other pages.

Title: One last time...
Message:
Well, in case you haven't noticed, I've fixed the navbar. Apparently there was a line in the CSS I forgot to fix. Anyway, having figured that out, I have decided to do one last final overhaul on the site. This could take a long time. For the time being I am going to close down the rest of the site; only this page and the php functions will be usable. Once I nail the layout with this page, I will redo each and every other page from scratch using the same layout. Though we don't have many pages on the domain, don't forget that we still have quite a bit of content to migrate from the old freewebs site. Call it procrastination, but I've let it all pile up on me and now it is decided that every free moment I have will be spent fixing the site. I would ask Syrus not to try posting any more content; we've got a big enough task as is. We may also make our own framing system like the Spriter's Resource has. That way we won't have to worry about transparency or image sizes. I'm also happy to announce that Syrus is working on one of his excellent new avatars for me.

So to recap: the site is being redone, and you won't be able to access the vast majority of it for quite a while. The freewebs site will be migrated, emptied, and deleted. I will get a new avatar. Peace will reign.

EDIT: I also fixed the update header.

Title: It's been such a long time...
Message:
Well, it's been over a week since Syrus's update; I guess that makes it my turn. I want to let you all (whoever "you all" is :D) know that we're still here. It's been a busy week for me, but I have some time right now so I'd like to tell you all what's happened in the last week:

1. Sy' found some cool music from the recent Sonic games. I can't be sure if it's public domain, but I'll ask around and when I find out, if it is I'll post it.
2. BARACK OBAMA WAS INAUGURATED! This should be in the first space, but I wanted to get the thing with the Sonic music out of the way. As you know, I am a huge fan of Obama, and I think that within the next few months we will see sinister republicans guilty of treason running scared.
3. My band has it's first album cover done! The band is called Living Superstition, and the cover has a picture of our lead singer (who goes by Yokajima on the forums) in black and white, with a "parental advisory-explicit lyrics" image over his mouth. Here it is.
4. Um, um, um, I forget....

Title: A Shout Out to Syrus!
Message:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Syrus. Over the last few months he has contributed nearly fifteen items (only thirteen are posted but I know he has more to put up) and has done a great job of updating when I've been busy and unable to keep an eye on the site. His fan comic, Super Smash Bros. Utopia, has really taken off, and I see a bright horizon for Syrus in this industry. And even after all his hard work on content, he still offers up his services in improving the site's design. His work ethic, vigilance, and constant devotion to the site has made him THE greatest member here, and I would like to commemorate him for that.

That said, I would like to say that I am going to increase my work ethic and effort on the site by 150% over the next few months. I want to encourage that more members of the site are as active and as productive as Syrus has been, and that won't happen if Syrus is the only one making a decent effort. I encourage you all to do the same. I don't know how soon my parents will let me back onto my PC (I am updating from school right now) but when they do I am going to rip sprites like there's no tomorrow.

Title: Mewthriii's Quality Shields
Message:
Alright, for a while I had a video link posted under Syrus's update. Upon re-watching this video I decided to remove it. I will re-record it and post a new one soon (this will probably be for the end-of-the-month video update). I'll explain what it is now.

Yes, I have joined the shield-making business. I'm not selling shields yet, but I may be soon. Right now I'm in the designing and testing phase. I've got a design for the Mirror Shield from Majora's Mask that I plan to build on. I had a really crappy design from four years ago, but with my new knowledge of shields, bah, there's so much wrong with it. Here's what I did to improve:
1. The old shield was tiny and useless. I doubled the size for the new one.
2. The old one had restraints made of paper and cardboard. The new restraints are cardboard and rope.
3. The old one was very weak. It's surface was of cardboard and one layer of tape. The new one has a layer of cardboard, a layer of construction paper, a layer of tin foil, and two layers of tape. Much more enforced.
4. The restraints on the old one were not properly aligned. When held, the shield stuck off your arm at an odd angle. The new one has restraints that are centered.
5. The grip on the old shield was not attatched at the bottom. The new one is.

Now as for what I could do to improve the current design (all of these will be included on the next variation):
1. Instead of using construction paper, I will use spray paint to color it.
2. Instead of using two layers of tape, I will use four.
3. I will put all artistic features of the mask below the four layers of tape, so that all the layers of tape can lock together.
4. Instead of taping the rope and cardboard to the shield, I will use glue.
5. I will have all layers of duck tape wrap completely around the shield, so that the glue and tape can bond to tape rather than cardboard (they do not hold well on cardboard).
6. I will increase the radius of the shield by 1/4.

That's all for now.

Title: Happy New Year!
Message:
YES! Leaving the epically failing 2008 behind! Let's recap all the things that made 2008 suck and why 2009 couldn't possibly be worse than 2008:

1. Camp Rock. 'nuff said.
2. High School Musical 3.
3. Disney in general.
4. Waiting in anticipation for George Bush to leave the White House and not getting to see him leave until 20 days into 2009.
5. The Mortgage Crisis.
6. US economy nearly crashed.
7. Wall Street Bailout.
8. Price of gas rose a lot, then fell a lot.
9. The death of Isaac Hayes, the voice of Chef on South Park.
10. No new Legend of Zelda game was released.

If I missed something, please tell me so that I can...do nothing about the list.
